Man injures himself with knife during police operation in Maintal
A 38-year-old man was seriously injured during a police operation in the Wachenbuchen district of Maintal on the evening of 12 January. Police had been searching for him after an earlier operational and threatening situation and later found him on Bachstraße. According to the Hessian State Criminal Police Office, he was carrying a knife and a stick-like object. After police used a service dog, a conducted-energy device and firearms, the man injured himself in the neck with the knife. Officers gave first aid, and he was receiving intensive medical treatment in hospital. The public prosecutor's office and state criminal police are investigating the course of the operation.
