Man placed in psychiatric care after attack with pointed object in Magdeburg
A 60-year-old man was attacked and injured on 15 August on August-Bebel-Damm in Magdeburg. He told police that an unknown man pushed him off his bicycle and repeatedly attacked him using a metal bar and a pointed object. The injured man was able to fend off some of the attacks but required hospital treatment before later being discharged.
Police provisionally detained a 52-year-old suspect nearby. Magdeburg District Court subsequently announced an order for the suspect's placement in psychiatric care, and he was placed in a specialist clinic. The investigation is ongoing.
