Man dies after knife attack on police officers in Krefeld
A 41-year-old man died after an officer used a firearm during a police operation in Krefeld. Officers had been called to the Uerdingen district on the evening of 20 June over an assault report. Before they arrived, the man allegedly became involved in an altercation with family members in which a woman was lightly injured. When two officers arrived, the suspect allegedly attacked them with a knife. One officer then used his service weapon, and the seriously injured man died shortly afterwards in hospital. Neither officer was injured. Police in Gelsenkirchen took over the investigation for reasons of neutrality.
