Man remanded after knife attack on former partner in Karlsruhe

A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody following the alleged attack on his 27-year-old former partner in Karlsruhe. Investigators said the woman had gone to his apartment late on Saturday afternoon to collect personal belongings. The man is alleged to have punched and strangled her, then held a bread knife to her neck, caused a superficial cut and threatened to kill her. When she went onto the balcony, he allegedly pulled her back into the apartment and threatened her again. She ultimately escaped, and police arrested the man at the scene. A judge issued a detention order on Sunday on suspicion of attempted homicide in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm and making threats.
