Two arrests after knife attack in Idar-Oberstein
A 19-year-old was seriously injured by a stab wound to the abdomen during an arranged meeting on Layenstraße in Idar-Oberstein on the evening of 8 December 2025. Police said he required emergency surgery at a local hospital. His 20-year-old companion sustained minor injuries from blows with a baton. Investigators believe that three suspects allegedly attempted to rob the pair of narcotics during what was purportedly an arranged purchase of opioids. Two suspects, aged 19 and 20, were arrested in the Bernkastel-Kues area on 5 February and were remanded in custody. The investigation into a third suspect is continuing.
