Man holds knife in front of himself at Herzogenaurach supermarket

At a supermarket on Würzburger Straße in Herzogenaurach, a 22-year-old man allegedly took a knife from a shelf and held it in front of himself after an employee spoke to him about a suspected shoplifting incident on 9 April. Customers and staff then left the store. Police cordoned off the market and made contact with the man. He was arrested without resistance inside the supermarket at about 11 a.m. Police said no one was harmed; because of his medical condition, the man was placed in the care of a specialist clinic. The police are investigating, among other matters, on suspicion of shoplifting.
