Man armed with sheep shears approaches police officers in Herne
Police officers overpowered a 50-year-old man armed with sheep shears at Europaplatz in Herne on the afternoon of 17 July. Witnesses had previously reported that he had pulled small trees out of the ground near the archaeological museum.
When officers spoke to him and noticed the sheep shears in his trouser pocket, they ordered him to lie down. Instead, he reached for the shears and moved toward the officers. They brought him to the ground and detained him provisionally; nobody was injured. Police seized the sheep shears and six kitchen knives during a search.
