Man undergoes surgery after life-threatening stab injury in Herford

A 53-year-old man suffered a life-threatening stab injury during a further altercation between two groups on Mindener Straße in Herford at about 00:45 on 25 June. Emergency personnel treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital for emergency surgery. His condition later stabilised.

Earlier, a 40-year-old man had been seriously injured with a baton during an altercation outside a bar on Berliner Straße. Bielefeld public prosecutors and the homicide squad are investigating the background. Three men initially detained were released after suspicion against them was not substantiated.
