31-year-old critically injured with knife in Helmstedt
A 31-year-old man was critically injured with a knife on Thursday evening during an altercation at Ziegenmarkt in Helmstedt. According to the initial findings, verbal disputes between him and the 36-year-old suspect preceded the attack. The injured man was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Braunschweig. Police provisionally detained the 36-year-old at the scene, but he was released after the measures were completed because prosecutors did not seek a remand order.
