Man threatens woman and two children with knife in Helmstedt
A 28-year-old man allegedly threatened a 35-year-old passer-by and her two children with a knife in Helmstedt at about 07:29 on 2 October. Police said he raised the knife shortly before passing the family on Goethestraße and pointed it in their direction.
The woman fled with the children and called police. Officers later found the man outside a bakery on Neumärker Straße, where he was still holding the knife. He was arrested without resistance at gunpoint and later taken to a specialist clinic because of an acute mental health condition.
