Supermarket employee seriously injured in knife attack in Hanover
A 29-year-old employee was seriously injured at a supermarket in central Hanover on 1 April. According to police, a man entered the store at about 18:45, briefly spoke to the employee and then suddenly attacked him with a knife. He made several stabbing motions toward the employee's upper body, but the employee was able to evade some of them and turn away.
The attacker fled after stopping the assault. Emergency crews treated the injured employee at the scene and took him to hospital; his injuries were not life-threatening. A 20-year-old man turned himself in to police during the search and was provisionally detained. Based on the investigation so far, prosecutors are treating the case as attempted manslaughter, and the background remains under investigation.
