Man remanded in custody after knife attack in Hanover

A 24-year-old man is suspected of stabbing an 18-year-old multiple times following an argument at a fast-food restaurant on Georgstraße in Hanover on 7 March. Police said the two men had become involved in a mutual physical confrontation at about 02:55, during which the suspect allegedly also used pepper spray.

The 18-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgery in hospital. He is now out of danger. Police arrested the 24-year-old on 20 March after investigative and search measures. A judge ordered pre-trial detention that same day, while prosecutors have classified the case as attempted manslaughter. The motive remains under investigation.
