Man seriously injured after stabbing in Halle

A 69-year-old man attended the emergency department of a hospital in Halle-Dölau late on 5 June with serious facial injuries and a stab wound to the buttock. After initial treatment, he was transferred to another hospital and underwent emergency surgery; police said his life was not in danger. The man stated that two unknown minors had attacked him from behind. As his mobile phone is missing, criminal police are investigating on suspicion of aggravated robbery. His clothing was also believed to be contaminated with irritant gas; nine members of medical staff suffered respiratory irritation, and the emergency department was temporarily evacuated and ventilated.
