Attackers swing machete at two brothers in Hagen

Four men allegedly swung a machete several times at two brothers in Hagen on the evening of Monday, 28 September 2026, without hitting them. Pepper spray caused minor injuries to the brothers, one of whom runs a hair salon, and to two passers-by. Witnesses saw the confrontation at about 9:30 p.m. on Am Hauptbahnhof street. After the brothers retreated into the salon, the attackers broke its display window and sprayed an irritant inside. According to the police’s initial findings, a dispute between the brothers and the attackers preceded the assault. Officers located two of the four suspects that evening: they took a 34-year-old man into custody and found pepper spray on him; a teenager was injured while fleeing police by jumping into the Volme riverbed and was taken to hospital. Emergency personnel treated the people with minor injuries at the scene. Criminal investigators are examining the case, including a suspected serious assault, and reviewing a video said to show the attack.
