Detention order after knife attack near Gronau
A 27-year-old man was seriously injured by a stab wound to the upper body at about 2 p.m. on 25 December on Graeser Brook road between Ahaus and Gronau. Following a verbal dispute, the 56-year-old mother of his partner allegedly used pepper spray before attacking him with a knife outside the car. The injured man was taken to hospital and was not in life-threatening condition, according to police. The woman initially fled but later turned herself in at a police station in Gronau. A judge issued a detention order the following day on suspicion of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. The investigation is ongoing.
