Man attacks police officers with scissors at Gießen hospital and dies
A 33-year-old man was fatally injured during a police operation at Gießen University Hospital on 26 December. Hospital staff had called police after a patient was reportedly threatening people with scissors. According to the investigation at that stage, the patient attacked responding officers with the scissors. Police then used firearms at about 4 p.m., fatally injuring him. The Hessian State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation, while prosecutors and investigators continue to examine the sequence of events.
