Man critically injured in stabbing in Gelsenkirchen
A 30-year-old man was found with a life-threatening stab wound to his upper body in Gelsenkirchen on the evening of 19 May. Officers found him on a grassy area in a side street off Lerckenshof after an emergency call. Paramedics took him to hospital.
Initial investigations led to suspicion against a 69-year-old man. Police arrested him at his home shortly after the incident. On the public prosecutor's application, Essen Local Court issued a detention order on suspicion of attempted manslaughter in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm. A homicide investigation unit continues to investigate.
