On 15 April, three men allegedly robbed a 23-year-old man at the north exit of Gelsenkirchen central station. According to the victim, they used a knife to force him to hand over his smartphone and cash. When he refused, one attacker allegedly sprayed what was believed to be pepper spray into his face and tore away his jacket, which reportedly contained about 400 euros. The men fled. Emergency personnel treated the victim, and investigators later identified two suspects.
