Man detained after theft and confrontation at Essen central station
A 27-year-old man is alleged to have damaged goods and tried to leave a shop at Essen central station without paying on 28 May. When an employee confronted him, a physical altercation followed. The man took scissors from the employee, who injured a finger while trying to prevent this. According to the Federal Police, the injury was not a cut. The man later re-entered the shop holding the scissors and is alleged to have taken further goods. Federal Police officers located him at the station, seized the scissors and took him to a psychiatric clinic after completing their measures. Investigators are examining allegations including robbery-related theft, theft with a weapon, bodily harm and property damage.
