Man critically injured in attack with stabbing weapon in Essen
A 21-year-old man was critically injured with a stabbing weapon during a confrontation between two groups of men near a playground on Grünstraße in Essen-Altenessen-Süd on the evening of 9 July. Two companions of the injured man suffered minor injuries from striking instruments. The critically injured man received emergency medical treatment and was taken to hospital; police later said he was no longer in danger of death. The suspected group fled. A homicide investigation unit is investigating under the direction of prosecutors, and police said the background remains unclear.
