Machete attack attempted after dispute in Erfurt city centre
Two as-yet unidentified men became involved in a dispute on Kaufmännerstraße in Erfurt on Saturday evening. During the confrontation, one allegedly attempted to strike the other with a machete. The other man fired at least one shot from a blank-firing gun. Both fled before police arrived, and it was initially unclear whether either man had been injured. Police are investigating attempted dangerous bodily harm and a weapons-law offence.
