Man shot after approaching police with two knives in Düsseldorf
A 33-year-old man allegedly approached police officers in Düsseldorf-Unterrath on Sunday morning while carrying two knives. Police had been called about a disturbance after the man was said to have handled knives and shouted on Im Schlank street. Officers used firearms after he allegedly failed to comply with instructions to stop and put down the weapons. He was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he was later no longer in life-threatening condition. He was provisionally detained in hospital the same day. At the public prosecutor's request, a local court ordered his placement in a forensic facility. Investigators said the man had also allegedly threatened a family living on the street beforehand.
