Player seriously injured after amateur football match in Dortmund
A confrontation between players and spectators escalated on Sunday afternoon after a lower-league match at Dortmund's Hoeschpark. A 38-year-old player from the visiting team suffered serious injuries from a stab wound to the back. Before and during the confrontation, a 42-year-old player and a 23-year-old player were struck on the head with a metal chair; both were taken to hospital along with the seriously injured player. Police said private disputes may have preceded the provocations during the match. The suspected knife attacker and another suspect fled before officers arrived, and an initial search was unsuccessful. Police are investigating suspected dangerous bodily harm.
