Woman dies after knife attack in Coesfeld
A 36-year-old woman died after a knife attack on 23 September 2026 at a municipal accommodation facility on Grimpingstraße in Coesfeld. Witnesses found her at about 12:25 p.m. with stab wounds to her upper body; attempts to resuscitate her failed. Her 43-year-old estranged husband is suspected of the attack. Following a witness tip, police arrested him at about midnight on Achtermannstraße in Münster. He had not responded to the allegations by the time of the report. Police set up a homicide investigation team, and an autopsy was scheduled for 24 September. Investigators had not established a motive.
