Shop owner threatened with pocketknife in Chemnitz

A 28-year-old man is alleged to have smashed the window of a grocery store on Hainstraße in Chemnitz during the night of 27 August 2026. The 49-year-old shop owner followed and confronted him. The man then allegedly threatened the owner with a pocketknife. Officers later found both men on Fürstenstraße, seized the pocketknife and opened investigations for property damage and threats. The suspected offender had a hand injury and, according to a breath test, was under the influence of alcohol.
