Man with knife demands money at Braunschweig store
At about 10 a.m. on 3 July, a masked man entered a grocery store at Saarplatz in Braunschweig and demanded money at the checkout while displaying a knife. Staff did not comply and instead activated an alarm. The man then fled. Plainclothes officers later located him in the Lamme area and arrested him after he briefly tried to continue fleeing by bicycle. The 23-year-old is under investigation for robbery-related extortion and is also a suspect in proceedings over a similar incident the previous day. A court ordered his pre-trial detention.
