Man remanded in custody after attempted knife robbery in Bottrop

A man allegedly attempted to rob an optician's shop in Bottrop on 24 December. He entered the shop on Poststraße in the morning, displayed a knife and demanded cash. Two employees refused, ran into an office and alerted police. The man left the shop without any money. Police arrested a suspect nearby and found a knife on him. At the request of prosecutors, a court ordered pre-trial detention for the 52-year-old.
