Man draws knife after being confronted in Bochum
In Bochum-Leithe, a 28-year-old man allegedly damaged several parked vehicles on 27 December. When a witness confronted him about this, the suspect allegedly drew a knife. Police later found him near Steeler Straße and Berliner Straße and called in a special operations unit. During the arrest at about 20:25, police officers fired shots and injured the man, who was taken to hospital for treatment. Essen police took over the subsequent investigation, overseen by the Bochum public prosecutor's office, for neutrality reasons.
