Supermarket employee held with knife in Berlin

A 29-year-old man is alleged to have taken a supermarket employee under his control in Berlin at about 10 p.m. on 10 July, using a knife, pepper spray and restraint material. He is alleged to have demanded money, among other things, and the woman sustained minor injuries. Officers freed her the following morning and overpowered the suspect, who was also slightly injured. Both were taken to hospital. A remand order was issued against the man on suspicion of kidnapping for extortion, attempted aggravated robbery extortion and dangerous bodily harm.
