Two suspects arrested after knife threat and balcony fall in Berlin

On 25 December, a 23-year-old man and a minor allegedly entered an apartment on Britzer Damm in Berlin-Britz at around 8 a.m. After a 31-year-old acquaintance opened the door, the pair allegedly forced open several internal doors while looking for the 29-year-old tenant. When they found him, they allegedly threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

According to police, the man tried to escape via the balcony of the second-floor apartment, fell onto the pavement and was seriously injured. He received intensive medical treatment and emergency surgery; his life was reportedly not in danger. Police arrested both suspects at the scene. They are being investigated on suspicion of robbery extortion and were to be brought before a judge to decide on detention warrants.
