Man detained after knife attack at Berlin street festival

At a street festival on Belziger Straße in Berlin's Schöneberg district, a 43-year-old man allegedly threatened a 33-year-old acquaintance with a knife at about 15:45 on 5 October. According to initial findings, the two men had argued before the confrontation reportedly turned physical.

When the threatened man's 34-year-old brother-in-law intervened to calm the situation, the 43-year-old allegedly stabbed him in the forearm with the knife. The suspect initially fled but was detained by responding officers on Elßholzstraße after witnesses followed him. The injured man was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment, while the detainee was released after police measures were completed. A specialist unit of Berlin Police Directorate 4 (South) continues to investigate.
