Security guard injured in alleged knife stabbing in Berlin
A 27-year-old security guard was allegedly stabbed in the upper body with a knife at a shopping centre on Grunerstraße in Berlin-Mitte on 18 May. The guard had approached a 50-year-old man who, according to initial findings, was suspected of trying to open cabinets and tarpaulins at market stalls. The man allegedly refused to allow his bag to be inspected, after which a struggle reportedly developed and the guard was injured. The guard received inpatient hospital treatment, and there was reportedly a temporary danger to his life. The suspect initially fled towards Alexanderplatz, where he was arrested and was due to be brought before an investigating judge.
