Man attacks police officers with knife in Köpenick
During a police operation on Kleinschewskystraße in Berlin-Köpenick, a 26-year-old man allegedly attacked police officers with a raised knife at around 10:50 a.m. A police officer fired three shots; two struck the man in the shoulder and one in the abdomen. He was taken to hospital and underwent surgery. Police said he was no longer in life-threatening danger but could not be questioned. A farewell letter found at the scene indicated, according to police, that he may have intended to provoke officers into shooting him. A homicide unit and prosecutors took over the investigation.
