Man threatens police officers with knife in Bad Oeynhausen

A 43-year-old man is alleged to have repeatedly approached police officers threateningly with a knife in central Bad Oeynhausen on Monday afternoon. Passers-by had alerted police to the man, who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. When officers spoke to him near Westkorso and Luisenstraße, he repeatedly ignored orders to put down the knife and later walked toward the Kurpark. After he again acted threateningly there, officers used pepper spray. The man dropped the knife, was subdued, and was subsequently placed involuntarily in a psychiatric hospital. No police officers or bystanders were injured.
