Woman seriously injured in knife attack in Augsburg

A 38-year-old man is suspected of seriously injuring his 35-year-old estranged wife in the upper body with a knife in an apartment in Augsburg-Kriegshaber on 6 July. Police said a verbal argument had begun at around 7:30 p.m. The man is alleged to have then threatened the woman with the knife; she fled the apartment with a companion and was apparently attacked in the process. She was taken to hospital. Police provisionally detained the man shortly afterwards. The following day, an investigating judge ordered pre-trial detention on suspicion of attempted manslaughter, dangerous bodily harm and threats.
