Man remanded in custody after knife attack in Altenburg
A 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man initially became involved in a verbal dispute in Topfgasse in Altenburg at around 22:10 on 27 February. According to police, it developed into a physical confrontation during which the 26-year-old allegedly stabbed the other man several times with a knife. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. People present restrained the suspect until police arrived; he also sustained facial injuries and received medical treatment. After appearing before a judge, the accused was taken to a correctional facility. The investigation on suspicion of attempted homicide is ongoing.
